For AI agents and their people

Let your AI agent move your help center to HelpCenter.io.

Your agent creates a private help center for you, moves your articles into it and hands you one link. You claim it, and it is yours. No account needed until then.

Tell your agent

Move our help center at [its address] to HelpCenter.io. Follow https://helpcenter.io/for-ai-agents, then send me the claim link.

Paste it into any AI agent that can call web APIs, with your help center's address in place of the brackets.

Up to 500 articles. Private until you claim it, and deleted after 7 days if nobody does.

How it works

Three steps for your agent. One for you.

Your agent does the moving while your current help center keeps serving readers. Your part comes at the end, and takes a minute.

  1. Your agent

Step 1: It creates your help center

No account and no sign-up. Your agent creates a private help center for you on a temporary address.

  2. Your agent

Step 2: It moves your content over

Articles, categories and their images, written into the help center through the HelpCenter.io API. Up to 500 articles.

  3. Your agent

Step 3: It hands you one link

Your agent gives you a claim link. Open it to preview the help center before you take it.

  4. You

    Step 4: You claim it

Sign up, or sign in, and confirm your email address. The help center is yours.

After you claim it

A help center that is yours, with your agent still on hand.

  • It moves into your account

Everything your agent built comes with it, and the limits it was built under lift.

  • Your trial starts when you sign up

New to HelpCenter.io? Your 14-day free trial starts when you sign up to claim it. Already have an account? Sign in, and the help center joins it.

  • Your agent can finish setting up

Keep its access on the claim page and it carries on with your content and design right away. It can finish setting up once you choose a plan. Its key works for 30 days, or until you revoke it in Settings → API Keys.

  • You decide when it goes live

It stays private until you claim it. Then make it public, on your own domain if you like, when you are ready.

After a trial, a help center stays live on a paid plan, like every HelpCenter.io help center. See plans and prices.

The limits

What a help center built by an agent can and cannot do.

Until someone claims it, a help center your agent built belongs to nobody. These limits keep it that way, and keep it safe.

  • 500 articles per help center

Drafts included, up to 100 categories and 500 MB of images and files. All three limits lift when you claim it.

  • Deleted after 7 days if nobody claims it

Counted from when your agent created it, and everything in it goes too. A migration request pauses the clock.

  • Private until you claim it

No visitors and no search engines. You can preview it from the claim link before you take it.

  • Content and design only, until then

Before the claim, your agent can write articles and categories and shape the design. Settings, domains, your team, billing and AI answers wait for you.

  • No custom scripts from an agent

An agent's key can never add or change custom scripts on your help center, before the claim or after. That stays with your team, in the dashboard.

  • A few a day per IP address

Each IP address can create 1 an hour and 3 a day. Bigger jobs go through a migration request.

Bigger moves

More than 500 articles, or many help centers?

Your agent files a migration request instead. One request covers up to 50 help centers and aims to be done within a day: a public Zendesk, Intercom, Document360, Help Scout, Front or HelpDocs help center moves automatically, and our migration team handles anything else.

  • One claim link for all of them Claim every help center in the request in one go.
  • Your agent can follow it It reads the request's progress with a status token of its own.
  • The clock pauses while we work You get 7 more days to claim once the request ends.
  • Only a person writes to you Your agent gives us your email address. Someone on our team may email you about the move; nothing automated does.
For AI agents

The whole flow, over HTTPS.

Acting for a user who wants their knowledge base on HelpCenter.io? This is the public HelpCenter.io API at https://api.helpcenter.io, and the developer guide has every request and response.

Before sending a request, read the Terms of Service for API and agent use. Act only with your user's authority, and submit their migration contact email only with their permission.

  1. Create the help center POST /v1/agent/help-centers with no credential and a JSON body: name (required, your user's product or company), source_url (optional, the https address of the knowledge base you are moving) and language (optional, default en). The response carries site_id, api_key and claim_url, shown once: keep them.
  2. Send the content With that key in the apikey header, create categories with POST /v1/categories and articles with POST /v1/articles/bulk, up to 50 a request. Give each article an external_id so a re-run updates it instead of adding a copy.
  3. Check your work GET /v1/agent/help-centers/{site_id} with the key returns what the help center holds against its limits, and its claim link.
  4. Hand it to your user Give your user the claim_url. Never claim it yourself: your user signs up or signs in and confirms their email address. We send no email with the link; it reaches them only through you. To throw a help center away instead, DELETE /v1/agent/help-centers/{site_id}.

Past the limits: a migration request

Past 500 articles, past the creation limit, or moving several help centers: POST /v1/agent/migration-requests with no credential, naming up to 50 knowledge bases and your user's email address. For a help center you already created, POST /v1/agent/help-centers/{site_id}/migration-request with its key. Public Zendesk, Intercom, Document360, Help Scout, Front and HelpDocs sources move automatically; our team handles the rest. The response carries a status token for GET /v1/agent/migration-requests/{id} and one claim link for every help center in the request. While a request is open, your writes to its help centers answer 409 migration_in_progress.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Something missing? Our team answers from our help center.

Do I need a HelpCenter.io account before my agent starts?

No. Your agent creates the help center without one. You need an account only to claim it: sign up, or sign in to the one you have, when you open the claim link.

What does it cost?

Nothing to create or to claim. If you are new to HelpCenter.io, your 14-day free trial starts when you sign up to claim it. After a trial, a help center stays live on a paid plan, like every HelpCenter.io help center. See plans and prices.

What happens if nobody claims it?

It is deleted 7 days after your agent created it, with everything in it. While a migration request for it is open, the clock pauses, and you get 7 more days once the request ends.

Who can claim it?

Anyone who has the claim link and confirms their email address. Your agent gives the link only to you, and we never send it anywhere else, so share it only with the person who should own the help center.

Can my agent keep working after I claim it?

Yes, if you let it. The claim page asks whether your agent may finish setting up your help center, and it is ticked for you. Keep it, and the agent's key moves to your account as "AI agent (setup)". Your agent can carry on with your content and design right away, and finish setting up once you choose a plan. The key works for 30 days, or until you revoke it in Settings → API Keys. An agent's key never changes your help center's custom scripts.

Which AI agents can do this?

Any agent that can make HTTPS requests to the HelpCenter.io API. It needs no account and no API key to start, and no sign-in. The developer guide and the OpenAPI file describe every request.

My help center has more than 500 articles. Can my agent still move it?

Yes. Ask it to file a migration request instead. One request covers up to 50 help centers, our migration team handles it, and you get one claim link for all of them.

Your agent does the moving. You keep the help center.

Give your agent the prompt above and wait for the claim link. Or skip the agent and start a 14-day free trial yourself.
